Former NASCAR star Greg Biffle, his wife, and their two children have died following a plane crash in North Carolina. The tragedy was confirmed by U.S. Representative Richard Hudson in a social media statement.
The Incident The crash occurred on the morning of Thursday (December 18, 2025) at Statesville Regional Airport. Biffle and his family were aboard a Cessna C550 Citation business jet.
According to reports, the aircraft was traveling to the Bahamas with a planned stop in Sarasota, Florida. Shortly after takeoff, the plane attempted to return to the airport but crashed near the runway. All seven people on board, including the Biffle family and three others, were killed.
Official Confirmation Representative Richard Hudson announced the heartbreaking news on social media, expressing his devastation over the loss of the family.
"I am devastated by the loss of Greg, Cristina, and their children, and my heart is with all who loved them," Hudson wrote. He described the Biffles as close friends who dedicated their lives to helping others.
A Legacy of Service Greg Biffle, 55, was a celebrated figure in motorsports, known for winning championships in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR Truck Series.
Beyond racing, Biffle was recently recognized for his humanitarian efforts. Following Hurricane Helene in late 2024, he used his personal helicopter to fly hundreds of missions, delivering supplies and Starlink systems to stranded residents in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
NASCAR released a statement mourning the loss, calling Biffle a "beloved member of the NASCAR community" and a "fierce competitor."
Federal authorities, including the NTSB and FAA, are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
