If you’ve been on TikTok lately, you’ve definitely seen the theory: Timothée Chalamet, Hollywood’s golden boy, is secretly moonlighting as the masked British rapper EsDeeKid.
It sounds insane until you look closer. EsDeeKid, a rising star in the UK underground scene known for his track LV Sandals and debut album Rebel, hides his face behind a balaclava. But internet sleuths are convinced that the eyes peering through the mask are an exact match for Chalamet’s. Add in Timothée’s well-documented love for hip-hop (never forget his high school alter ego, “Lil Timmy Tim”), and suddenly the conspiracy doesn't feel so far-fetched.
So, is it him? Chalamet finally addressed the chatter this week while promoting his new film Marty Supreme on Heart Radio in the UK, and he didn't exactly shut it down.
When hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden pressed him on the rumors, Chalamet was caught off guard. After a long pause and an initial "no comment," he offered a coy, mischievous teaser that has fans spiraling.
"I've got two words on that," Chalamet said, breaking into a grin. "All will be revealed in due time."
He laughed it off immediately after, joking that it was "a little more than two words," but the damage was done. Social media is now convinced this is a soft confirmation.
Is this the greatest piece of method acting in history? A viral marketing stunt? Or just Timothée having fun with a ridiculous internet rumor? For now, the Dune star is letting us sweat it out.
As he said: All will be revealed.
